Be ready every time the press calls.

Your outsourced press office

Most PR is sold as a campaign, with a start date and an end date. A press office is the other thing: someone on hand every week to answer journalists, draft the comment and keep a steady flow of stories going out in your name. We run one for you, on a monthly retainer.

What a Press Office Actually Does

Three jobs running at once. Most in-house teams have time for one of them.

Answering the Journalist Who Is Already Asking

Requests arrive without warning and expire fast. For Midland Health we match inbound requests from titles including Metro, The Guardian, Stylist and HELLO! to the right specialist, draft the comment for sign-off and turn it around the same day.

Having Something to Say When Nobody Is Asking

A quiet news month is where most programmes stall, so a proactive cycle runs alongside the reactive one: original research, Freedom of Information requests, seasonal angles. For Puppies.co.uk that cycle has been turning every month since 2022.

Keeping the List Warm

A maintained contact list is the difference between a pitch that lands and one that goes to a dead address. For Witan Solicitors that meant a media list of more than 100 industry contacts, every one of them followed up by hand.

What the Retainer Covers

The day to day, not just the set pieces. If what you want instead is one named person built into a recognised voice, that is thought leadership, and the two run well together.

Inbound Press Requests

Journalist enquiries come to us. We find the right person in your business, agree what can be said and get the comment back inside the deadline.

Reactive Comment

We watch the news daily for stories you can credibly speak to. For Witan Solicitors, Freedom of Information requests to police forces came back within a matter of days, in time for the news cycle they were meant for.

Proactive Stories

Original research and data campaigns, planned in advance, so there is always something in the pipeline rather than only when the news happens to suit you.

Drafting on Your Behalf

Your people are busy doing the job. We write the comment, the release and the pitch, and it comes to you for sign-off before anyone outside sees it.

A Media List Kept Current

Contacts maintained and split by region and by what each journalist actually covers, then followed up by hand rather than blasted.

Monthly Reporting

Every placement logged: where it ran, the strength of the site and what the coverage was worth. Midland Health is reported against a shared tracker every month, covering volume, links, mentions, Domain Authority and coverage value.

What a Standing Programme Builds up To

Three retained PR programmes and what they have returned. Two of the three are still running.

How a Month Runs

The same cycle every month, with you signing off everything before it leaves us.

1

Agree the Month

We bring the ideas and you approve them before any work starts. Topicality decides the order: a rule change, a seasonal moment, a story your sector is already arguing about.

2

Watch the News Daily

News alerts are monitored every day for stories you can speak to, running alongside the planned work rather than instead of it.

3

Draft It, You Sign It Off

Nothing reaches a journalist without your approval. On a reactive story that is usually a two line reply, which is all a busy team has time for.

4

Pitch a List Built for the Story

Media lists split by region and by the topics each journalist covers, with every contact followed up individually.

5

Report What It Was Worth

Every placement logged with its publication, its authority score and an estimated media value, so you can see what the retainer bought.

    FAQ

What is an outsourced press office?

It is your press function, run by us. Instead of hiring in house, you get a team that takes journalist enquiries, drafts comment, runs proactive stories and reports on the coverage, for a monthly fee.

Is this a campaign, or is it ongoing?

Ongoing. A campaign has an end date; a press office is standing capacity. If what you want is one self-contained campaign built around a single piece of research, that is our digital PR work instead.

Who actually speaks to the journalist?

Usually us, on your behalf. We take the enquiry, find the right person in your business, agree what can be said and draft the response for approval. Where a journalist wants a phone interview we arrange it and brief your spokesperson on the angles first, which is how we run it for Midland Health’s clinicians.

How quickly can you turn a comment around?

Same day where the deadline needs it. That is the normal rhythm on the Midland Health programme, and it is the whole reason the arrangement is a standing one rather than a project you book in advance.

What happens in a month with no news?

The proactive side carries it. Research, data requests and seasonal angles are planned ahead precisely so that a quiet month still produces coverage.

How does the commercial side work?

A monthly retainer against a programme we agree with you, reported every month. There is no minimum contract.

    Ready When You Are.

One call. A person answers. The plan is yours either way.
